I also wanted to check, if I am using only tungsten lights in Europe, can I shoot at 1/60? instead of 1/100 (or 1/50)?
|
Jack,
You should be fine, I would always check the image on a field monitor if available. I have shot stuff that looked fine on the LCD and then when you go to post the strobe effect is there. Good Luck, Dan Weber |
OP: I blew a battery charger at a lodge in Lesotho. I was a Canon charger rated to 220v. The problem is that the electrical systems in Lesotho vary greatly, there is a town across the border in South Africa that was acutally putting out 260v and the hotel I was staying at had warnings posted by the outlets. I used a car charger and 120v converter most of the time. BTW: Not sure what your plans are in Lesotho, but if you have time try and make it to Sani Pass. Some great footage to be had there. Also the Matebang Pass area is exceptionally beautiful.

Which should I use, though if shooting 60i.... 1/50 or 1/100. I guess that for 60i I should use 1/100 and for 24p or 30p I should use 1/50... Is that correct? |
The frame rate is less relevant to flicker than exposure time. You can dial in 1/50 in 24P mode by setting the shutter switch to variable.
However, I don't think it is possible to select 1/50 in 60i or 60P mode. I'm not even sure it is possible in 30P mode, but I'll check. |
The HD100 does not have a 1/50th shutter speed in 30p. It will have to be 1/100th and will require twice as much light.
