251 Help Question!

I want to invest in one of the GY's preferably the 251 because its the latest model, but ive been hearing things like, 720 50 wont edit in final cut pro, which is my main editing program, is this true? or is there a way around it, or perhaps is there a better camera for me.

Plus as well, what does the 50i or 50 and 60 actually mean?

Thanks!!

Jim,

50 and 60 refers to the framerates of broadcast television used in different parts of the world. Yours in Europe use 50 interlaced frames thus 50i, this is PAL framerate. In the US, Japan and in my country we use NTSC framerate of 60i or 60 interlaced frames. These numbers are used when partaining to television signals. Film cameras run at 24 frames/second thus the new digital videocams have mimicked this with 24P or progressive frames, the early sonys and canons used 24f . New HD cameras now have 60P (progressive) or 50P instead of the 60i and 50i.

This forum are filled with much detailed explainations regarding this.

I have an HD100 which can do either 60i 50i or 24P, 25P and 30P.

If you dont intend to go component out or dont use 60P much, go for the much cheaper HD110.
