Hi Tim, I looked on your Preview-shooters guide, nice to see to make a new sequence-setting for XDCAM EX,
I can work under 5.1.4 with XDCAM EX-Files thanks to Perian

but when I open the downloaded component with my Mac OS X 10.4.11 the
Perian XDCAM component it don`t looks like yours as LEGO-stone it is a folder structure, what can I do.
Thank you!

Tim Dashwood August 25th, 2009 09:16 AM

Hmmm. That's weird but it should still work fine. If it doesn't work please let me know. It is possible Perian is required to be installed for the component to be displayed as a package.
Perian is one of those things that everyone with a Mac should have installed anyway. It adds a tonne of codecs to Quicktime and it doesn't seem to have any ill effects.

Eric Deyerler August 25th, 2009 09:47 AM

Perian is installed and it works fine, the only
thing is the fact with the component. I 've installed
ProRes and this works with FCP5.1.4 and
create new sequences, but Xdcam don't work

Hm100

Just got the DVD yesterday. Great job. I have already learned a few new things and I now understand some items better now.

Keep up the good work.

Tim, does your video include file recipes for HM100? Thanks

Kajito Nagib September 2nd, 2009 11:47 AM

Tim I watched your HM100 video on YouTube and just explaining the aperture and knee
settings was worth the $24.95. Can't wait to get the video.

Swapping cards while recording

Hey Tim,

Got the DVD yesterday and am really pleased with the content. Learned all kinds of tips to creating better video.

One thing though, can you remove an SDHC card while recording, in particular during a longer shoot set to continuos clip, could I fill card A, have it switch to card B and then remove and insert a new card in slot A while still recording?

Thanks again for a great product.

Tim Dashwood September 11th, 2009 02:50 AM

Hi Bob.

I may not have mentioned this detail on the Shooter's Guide but you can record continuously from card to card to card to card, etc. for 12 hours straight. There is an arbitrary 12 hour limit, but I'm not sure why.

Spanning cards in continuous clip mode? Hmm. I don't see why it would work any differently. It would require some testing to know for sure.

HM 700 Shooters Guide

Tim,

Any idea when the HM 700 Shooters Guide will be available?

We're still aiming for the end of October. We had to wait for a few things (firmware updates and Blu-Ray burner) but we're still on track.

The Complete Guide to ProHD Volume 2 (HM100/HM700)

Tim,
I've really enjoyed and learned a lot from the free tutorials you've posted on DV Info Net. I'm about to buy a GY-HM700 and was wondering if you had any info on when The Complete Guide to ProHD Volume 2 (HM100/HM700) was actually going to be available?

Tim Dashwood October 30th, 2009 03:55 AM

Unfortunately I'm behind on my self-imposed schedule for the Volume II release for a few reasons. I've been unexpectedly busy since the release of Stereo3D Toolbox (trade shows, press, support, revisions and updates) and I have been working on some films that were supposed to have shot in summer. This had all pushed back the completion of VOL II by about a month but then the flu took me out of commission for the last week and a half. (As a side note I urge everyone to get vaccinated against H1N1 if you have the opportunity. Trust me you don't want to get it.)
I want to get the DVD out there as soon as possible but there is still quite a bit of post production work to be done (V/O, graphics, transcription, translation & subtitles.)

Hang in there, Tim! Thanks for the update,

Robert Rogoz January 25th, 2010 12:14 AM

Tim, in your on-line tutorial you are using 720/60p setting, with shutter at 1/60. I was wondering about this, I thought 180 degree shutter was a norm.
