Hi Randy

Any flip-out/slideout LCD will not support (decently anyway) a loupe. On the AC-130 and 160 1/4" and 3/8" holes are available in the handle so what I had was an aluminium bar extending sideways from the handle and a piece of 1/8" threaded rod dropping down with a hook on the end and that aligned with the rubber "O' ring on the collar of the Hoodman so it was a sorta "mini crane" that supported the loupe and didn't stress the LCD...However as tough as it was it still wasn't tough enough to use as a support point as I use on the HMC80 EVF AND you still have all the weight forward as well and the camera is unbalanced. That's why I'm lothe to part with my shoulder mount cameras..I'm so used to them!!

Maybe the answer is the JVC HM750..it certainly has the best ergonomics out there!!!

I know the GYHM-650 will be out later this year, and one of the differences is WiFi and FTP, I was wondering if there will be an Android app that will allow WiFi remote control? If so, then I will have to wait for that camera, I have been seriously considering getting the GYHM-600, but this ability would be very useful.

Anybody have any thought on this?

Thanks, that's very promising! Now if they can update through Firmware to the newer AVCHD 2.0, that will do it for me. I want a dedicated camera with a great lens and this lens looks very good.

Update: The GY-HM650 will actually generate a URL for a web page that can be accessed from any web browser, so a dedicated Android or iOS app isn't necessary for this wireless remote feature.

Do you know if an API will be released allowing a third party remote app to be developed? I might be interested in doing it.

Another item of note regarding the GY-HM600, I was shocked to find that it has a cooling fan!
I can't see how that could be a good thing because of the dust and dirt that can be sucked through the camera, and worse would be the fan noise in a quiet environment.

There are several mentions on the net of the Panasonic AG-AC160 also having a cooling fan, so I don't think this is unique. Yes, it would be better if it didn't have a fan, but many cameras do have them.

I don't expect the noise would be any worse than the noise from a tape mechanism.

I also don't think it will be an issue or deal breaker. But we will find out soon, you would want to think that the engineering dept had thought of this. I'm seriously thinking about putting in an order for the 650.

I want a real camcorder, tired of changing lenses and cleaning sensors, I think that the lens on both these cameras can deliver about 90% of my needs, even some decent DOF. I will keep a mirror less system for special projects. Thinking about a Panny GH3.

If JVC can upgrade the HM600 firmware to do 1080 60p AVCHD 2 and the fan noise isn't going to be a problem, I'd buy one. It's got a feature set unmatched by anything else in its price range.
