D7000 workflow for any NLE?

Hi folks, looked everywhere for this - and assume the system is either too new, or no one likes the results - because I can't find anything specific at all here in the forums.

Either way, I am using the D7000 for video, and wondered if anyone had experience or advice with it to determine the highest quality capture, and easiest way to manipulate it in a NLE (I use Premiere and AE, CS3/Mac - and find it almost useable straight off the CF card- albeit a bit choppy).

So, if you folks might share some wisdom with me, it would be appreciated.

There you have it!

TMS

P.S. If I have posted this in the wrong forum, please let me know.

Try out the trial of Cineform.

It'll let you turn those h.264 files into something much more friendly with CS3, espescially on older machines. It will also eliminate any colourspace problems which might pop up later on (like when trascoding and uploading to the web) by taking care of it during the transcoding stage. So basically you'll import off the card, batch transcode your files in cineform and then import the resulting AVI's into CS3.

Only downside is you'll need a lot more hard drive space.

Excellent! Downloading as I type! Hadn't thought of transcoding... but of course!

And for a guy like me (amateur wanna-be) the affordable price for an official piece of software is totally acceptable if it works!

Thank you!

@ Terry: what has been your choice?

@Peter : in which delivery format you suggest to have the best quality in 1920x 1080? Does this sw handle the change of frame rate?
thx

For affordable transcoding option, nothing beats Cinform in my opinion. I run every footage out of D7000 through NeoScene to get 10bit Cineform AVI footages before importing them into any NLE system.

And after you transcode in avi if you want your final output in full 1020x1080? What format should i choose?
Thx

Markus, sorry, a year late... Maybe two. I got my answer and didn't think to look at an old post.

Anyway, Cineform it is. Have been using it since the suggestion, and it works great. Cs6 can handle the compressed files now, but still like fact it doesn't crush the gamma, and its part of my workflow until I can somehow manage to get uncompressed video straight through the d7k.

Anyway, sorry to be rude... Cineform new scene was my choice.
