Any correllation btw my VGA and dropped frame?
 

Hi all,

Pls I want to confirm. Does the capacity of my VGA have to do with my external preview?

I have about 32mb or 64mb on-board vga of a gigabyte board and I discover that I have dropped frame anytime I enable external preview to TV: even if the video plays fine on the PC preview window before that time. Is there any correllation?

if the drivers for the VGA card is poorly written - then they can interrupt the IRQ lines and then you'll get dropped frames.

Advice:

1. Look for new Motherboard drivers
2. New VGA drivers
3. Get a real gfx card(maybe a Geforce 8600/9600) for a 100 USD

Thanks lazze for your response. Pls help simplify your terms, I'm just a beginner. e.g. what is IRQ lines, and how do i confirm the VGA drivers is poorly written?

However, I do use the original drivers CD that came with the Gigabyte board: are you saying I should use another board drivers CD?

Did you also say I should go for a new VGA (probably, off-board) since I use on-board VGA?

The drivers on the cd accompanying your MoBo will probably be antiques. Check out the manufacturers web site for the latest drivers for the entire board and all sub systems.

Forget about IRQ's. What you don't know can't really hurt you as far as they are concerned.

3.

On (MoBo) Board graphics usually tend to be pretty basic. If the new drivers mentioned in (1) don't sort your problem, it may be worth getting a plug in graphics card of repute - there are any number that have been recommended here on DVinfo (Check the general section a bit up the page).

Hope that's clarrified things a bit.
