320GB enough?
 

I need a external HDD for cheap and the cheapest one for the most memory is the WD 320GB Ex-HDD. is this enough space for big video projects using raw footage? or should i save more money for a 500GB or maybe a 1TB, note i don't have a real job so it will take longer to make the cash

You can then just plug in any SATA drives, just like a giantic floppy disk. They also have other version for Firewire and eSATA.

You need portability? Do you need to bring the drive around?

If not, both will be the same. Just plug in AC adapter and USB cord to your computer. I don't see why one is more convenient. What if your 320GB filled up? You gonna buy another external enclosure with another set of AC adapter? HDD filled up quick with videos. For this one, you just need to buy another bare drive. 500GB SATA drive runs about $90 these days. Should see long term.

ya ill be bringing it with me when i go places(alot)

and if it does get filled up ill get a 1 TB, some time like 2-3 yrs from now

well actually u kinda persuaded me into it, the station is only $25 at circutcity.com but do you just buy an inturnal hdd and slide it in the dock or is there more to it?

It's even better because it's SATA to SATA direct connection. No protocol changes. But it's internal and involve opening your computer case.

i forgot! i have a media drive bay in my desktop, and dont MDB's use a USB 2.0 connection?

well i need a HDD quick and i guess ill get the 320 for now since im low on cash, but if i ever have enough ill get the dock and a 500GB SATA along with it, thanks for recommending it ^_^, i can see myself using it in college lol
