MPEG2 encoder tests?
Hi,
I've been using Pinnacle Studio8 to create DVDs. I've read that many people complain about the MPEG2 encoder. I've compared various footage encoded with Studio8 and TMPGEnc, but I really didn't notice the difference in my 6000-8000 kpbs examples. Is there much of a difference at the higher bitrates? If anyone could describe the type of footage or (big favor) post a multimegabyte DV file that pushes the limit, I would be most grateful. Also, I'll summarize my results. I plan to compare Studio8, TMPGEnc and Vegas4 (Main Concept encoder). |
The bitrates your describing are already the higher bitrates,
and depending on the footage it should look good in most encoders. In the end it all depends on what you find good looking, can afford and works for you. If it looks great to you why upgrade? |
I haven't done an extensive comparison, so I'm not convinced my footage looks great.
