reducing the glare.....
well, while doing an interview with a VIP, I backlight him a little too much causing a glare on his head...yes, he's bald too boot (thank you MR Murphy!).
is there any tricks to reducing the glare in post? I'm editing with premiere 6.02 any suggestions? ~Mike |

Light is the information your camera is employed to collect. Glare is also light. You are fairly limited as to what you can do about this in post. There are lots of DV problems for which there are magic wand post solutions--camera shake, poor coloration, etc.--but flare, glare, and bloom are not among them.

There are a few things you can do to minimize the glare but you cannot normally do this in an editing program.
A compositing program would allow you to tone down the glare with a partial mask. A rotoscoping program might allow you to clean up most of the problem. Both require a fair amount of work, perhaps on a frame-by-frame basis. I've painted boom microphones out of scenes, wires, lumakeyed overexposed windows and fixed a lot of problems with AE and the rotoscoping program from Ulead's Studio Pro system. But it all takes a lot of time. |
