When exporting edited footage BACK onto the camcorder...

My question is when you export the edited final footage back onto the camcorder tape.... can you foward the tape to a certain point and then export it there? Like the total DV tape is 60 minutes... and I would be filming appx. 20 minutes of footage, then edited and it comes down to 15 minutes. If I wanted to use all of that tape (better consumption/management)... I would have to foward that tape to AFTER 20 minutes or so, then export it back right? Does the editing programs then automatically export/play on the tape?

I use Premiere 6.5 and it provides deck control for export back to DV, so yes you can select the start frame for writing your file to tape. I don't know what Vegas and other comparable software can do.

Yes this is possible - Most NLE applications will enable you to do this.

Ahh...... so, you don't have to manually foward it, you can control it via through the editing system?
