NLE monitor

I'm looking to buy a video monitor for my NLE set up. Do I need to buy a real "monitor", or could I buy a television set with the proper input jacks. That way I can get double use out of it when I'm not editing a project.

Any thoughts one way or the other?

Thanx

There is a real recent discussion on this, maybe search the forum for monitor. If your doing work for broadcast, get a real monitor, it'll save your butt. If it's web related a TV is fine. If it's going to tape (VHS) or DVD it just depends on how picky or precise you want to be. If your work isn't color or size critical a TV will do.

Thanks. I had done a search in the "non-linear editing area" and didn't get much, so I tried a broader search and found some threads in the "open DV" discussion.
