practice editing on avid with .avi files
 

before I edit my project with avid express I would like to practice. is it possible on avid to edit .avi, divx, mpeg, wav files? or can you only do omf (?) files?

if it is possible how would I import it?

open 'my computer'
select the files you want
drag and drop them into the appropriate bins
wait for avid to create omf files out of them

not sure about dvx, mpeg or wav but I have used avi's before - I may have used wavs - can't remember
try the different files and see if they work - it can't hurt
