Situation:

Recent: PC Windows 2000 with the Canopus DV Raptor Hardware and Software.

Current: Laptop Windows 2000 with none of the Canopus DV Raptor Hardware but I do have the software.

I want to view my videos that I had captured from the DV Raptor but it requires the Canopus Codec. I know I have the codec files (.dll) but I have yet to find a way to extract them into my sytem so it will use those codecs?

Basically how do I install these codecs without an exe. program but striaght through with the (.dll)

Thanx
alex

I think that some .dll's can be installed by rightclicking with the mouse and then select the option install or register. I'm at work so I can't check but I think this was the way I registered the MainConcept codec.

Alex, I have the same desktop set up and know that Canopus makes available a codec download for viewing its output on a PC WITHOUT the Canopus hardware. I don't have a direct link for you but if you follow the path to Raptor support/downloads you won't miss it.

http://www.canopus.com/US/support/drivers/drivers_dvcodec.php is the URL you're looking for. (You'll need to sign in.) With this codec you can playback only, not capture. However, Canopus also provides a freeware format converter so you can losslessly convert your Canopus avi files to the Microsoft DV codec, render with those, and then later losslessly convert back to Canopus DV format.

So there are workarounds for every situation.

It's in the mail. If it takes forever to come down, remember you did ask for it ;>)
