Trying Out Boris FX and

I'm using Boris FX 7.0 (stand alone)....

1) The gray box for external monitor is grayed out in Boris FX, even though the monitor is working fine when I use Vegas. Am I correct in assuming that I would have to disable external preview in Vegas properties before it would work with Boris or am I overlooking something here?

2) How do I render out a ten second segment of a snowing FX over a video clip for work in Vegas? I can only export one Targa frame at a time? Here again, I must be overlooking something.

Thank you.

There are a few ways:

Start up Boris Keyframer. Make & save the effect in Boris. Close keyframer. Start up Vegas and make a solid any color for the amount of time the effect is. Apply the saved Boris effect to the solid.

or

Make a solid. Apply video effect. Choose Boris. Make the snow effect and hit apply.

I don't think it is possible to render an .avi with Boris FX. Render the .avi in Vegas.

What do you save the project as in Boris? I tried saving it as a BFX file. Then when I close Boris and open Vegas, the saved file isn't available within Vegas for me to open or drag in. So how do I "apply" the effect to the solid. Is there an "apply" command I'm not seeing? Remember, this is the stand alone version of Boris FX. Thank you for your response; it's appreciated.

Sorry that I did not make it clear.

Once you start up Vegas, apply a Boris effect to the solid. Then, in Boris hit the file open settings command and navigate to the saved effect. Adjust the time so it matches the solid and hit apply.

This could all be done without starting Boris Keyframer seperately, but for some effects it is better to do this because you can see the video play out in Boris.
