Making move to HDV
 

I am about to make the jump to HDV. Either going with a Z1U, or possibly V1U.
I have been using Premiere Pro 1.5, and was going to upgrade to Premiere Pro 2 at the same time. My computer is a Sony VAIO with a 3ghz pentium 4 , 2GB RAM, 256 mb video card and 500GB Raid 0 HD.
Is that enough computing horsepower to get me started in being able to edit in HDV? How is Premiere Pro 2 at editing HDV? Or is a switch to Vegas 7 a better bet? Any help/comments would sure be appreciated.

I am running a dual core AMD 3800+ self built with, with similar peripherals. I have both Premiere Pro 2.0 and Vegas 7. Your 3Ghz is probably okay for native HDV editing in either. However, you may find it nicer to use Cineforms Aspect to edit in Premiere. You actually have a better editing capability with it, in both speed and for maximum preservation. You are actually editing in a large .avi file much the same as DV. Only much larger files. But its about $ 500.00 for Aspect added to your costs. That's why I edit in HDV native....

I have been a Premiere user for years. I bought Vegas 7, because of all the hype that it is the best around on the PC side. I have had some crashing with my Vegas 7 set up so far. Premiere has been pretty solid. I am sure if I was loving Vegas 7, I would run down the issues with it, but I keep working with, and still prefer Premiere.... old habits are hard to break. And Upgrade to Premiere 2.0 is pretty inexpensive too.
