Paging

Hey guys and gals. I was curious what my pageing file size should be. The initial and the max, and what buttons should be checked and which ones to be unchecked. I currently have 512mb of ram and soon be getting a gig more. Thanks.

I usually set mine to 3x the amount of installed RAM. As for the buttons you didn't mention the OS you are using. Generally, I set both the initial and max at the 3x RAM amount. Be sure to set the page file on c: to zero.

One thing though, make sure you back-up your system/create a restore point before making any changes.

Beginning with Windows 2000 & XP I usually leave my page file
alone. It seems to be okay from the default for me. This ofcourse
depends on the amount of memory and such.

How much memory do you have?

Clint Comer May 2nd, 2003 02:00 AM

512 at the moment but I will soon be getting another gig to add to it.

With that amount of memory you should hardly ever need a page
memory at all (unless you are doing some serious visual effects
work). See what happens if you leave tha page file at its default.
