Slideshow program to build DVD

Hey everyone, I am working on a slideshow project, I am currently using Encore to create it. I am some difficulties with having to resize pictures and loosing the quality. I dont mind that it is a very simple program but having to resize the images before I import them is being a bit more difficult than expected. Do you any of you have suggestions with another program to do this for me? By the way if possible i dont want every picture to take up the entire screen, would be nice to have a border or a title next to it.
Is there a recommended resizing method?
Thanks for all the help.
Saul

You can batch resize in Photoshop or IrfanView (free).

Is there a specific size that works best though for good results on TV?

You should resize to the size of your project, so Encore will not have to resize them anymore.

crazy metod is to create slideshow with PowerPoint
& burn PowerPoint to DVD using Presentation To Video Converter

depending on what you want it to look like but you can use Photo Story 3
and it works best with large files....

goto Microsoft.com and search for Photo Story for the free download and
some examples......

then when the program is finished with your project, output to an AVI movie,
then bring that into encore for the DVD

I second Photostory 3 as well. You can do a lot in manual mode or in automatic. Remember that you always loose some quality taking pictures to DVD because of the resolution loss.

Are you sure it can output to AVI? I think it's WMV only.

Thanks Ervin, Its been awhile that I created a slide show... you are correct that the output is wmv and not avi....

and if memory is serving me correctly tonight.. you can also bring in the wmv to Windows Movie Maker and output it to DVD...
