Scooter Driveby comes to life.

Shot a couple scenes today for my next stupid video, about someone who basically calls up one of his "homies" to "pop a cap" in someone because they farted by him. Well maybe we just shot one scene, I guess. We could had it done and I could of been editing it right now, but the kid who was going to play the kid that farts and gets shot, couldn't show up, we finish it monday.

Here's a couple framegrabs from some stuff we did shoot.

Also, here's a sample test video of the scene of him getting his gun ready to go "pop a cap" in the kid who farted by his "homie".

EDIT --- Right click > SAVE TARGET AS...on trying to download that file.

Man, I wish you'd consider doing something a little more redeeming. On Monday night I'm going to drive an hour each way just to see that shot-for-shot Raiders remake done by kids not much older than you. Alex, you have a lot of knowledge and the basic tools for producing something. If *you* did a shot-by-shot remake of some popular movie, then I'd probably drive an hour both ways to see it, too. These are the best years of your life, and you're doing this kind of stuff, when you definitely have the potential and the opportunity and the ability to do so much more.

Hey Alex. I'm a member of three boards that deal with filmmaking and they all three teach me something, though in a different manner!

You may know these boards also, but I thought you might be interested:

http://forums.studentfilms.com/6/ubb.x
Student Films has high school and college students (and other people) - and also a site that posts student shorts. You should check out what others your age are doing - as a matter of interest.

http://college-film.com/forum/
College-Film is about the same, but with fewer 'flamers' than sf.com. You should check out two posts there - (1) The contest - and the short film MY SKIN (it is AWESOME); and (2) the community script that we are contributing to!

It may give you an idea of what student filmmakers are doing. I love all three boards and learn something from all of them.

Good luck with the shoot.

Eh? Don't like completely retarded stupid videos? lol...

I for sure don't want to do a "shot by shot remake" of a popular movie, that would be totally retarded. I do respect and admire then kids that did do that though, but thats just not the thing for me. I'd rather be original and make up stupid stuff then copy someone else's ideas.

I'll do some non-stupid videos, trust me.

Mark, thanks for the suggestions and stuff, i'll check them out. Honestly though, I would like to see what other kids my age are doing, but in a way, I don't really care, because I don't want to try to be something i'm not. If this isn't the thing for me, no big deal. I know what I can do is much better then what a lot of people can do. I've seen some stuff done by kids around here, and it's not California, New york, or that place in Canada (:D) but they were all pretty crappy.

I don't see whats so wrong with a stupid funny video though.

BTW, incase your wondering, I don't like rap music at all. I'm 110% Metal & Rock. I just think the whole ebonics thing is pretty funny, not to offend anyone, of course.

Also about that song i'm using, I found it on MP3.com by searching for "driveby" and it will fit pretty well. I was hoping I could find a good rap song for it anyway, since it does fit better. For the legalities (is that a word?) of it, I DID infact get a EMail from the artist telling me that he would be more then happy to let me use the song.

I think anything you shoot - whether it's the scooter drive-by or if you shoot the family pooch playing with his dog bone that you should shoot, shoot, shoot! That's how you learn.

I just thought that on those boards there are real students having real problems and sometimes it interesting how they solve them - with no money, no support and in some cases, no idea of what they're doing! The shorts that some of them make are horrendous, but they're shooting too! You just have wade through some blathering posts sometime.

It was just an idea. I certainly don't want to speak for Chris, but I kind of agree with him. While there is no reason not to shoot for fun with your friends, you should push yourself a little. It doesn't have to be a shot-for-shot remake, but it should test your knowledge and boundaries. I do want to send you a couple of scripts that you can use - if you want to try something. If not, then put them in the kitty box!

Just an opinion. I certainly don't know everything, so take it with a grain of salt! Good luck on the short!

Ivan Hedley Enger June 22nd, 2003 06:12 AM

Well said Mark. I think we all have something to learn from each other. Even though you donīt want to copy someones work, it might be vice to use the idea in your own project.

Mark Moore June 22nd, 2003 07:05 AM

Thanks Ivan. I've visited Hilleroed and Copenhagen in Denmark and Amsterdam, but not Norway. I assume it's as beautiful there as the places I've visited!

Hmmm. Now I have an idea! There are so many people from all over the world, it would interesting if we could post one pic of our home town - either the skyline, or something that makes our town unique. We could post it in the "Totem Pole" area.

I may be the only one, but I think seeing these pics would almost be like visiting the towns! Anyone else interested?

Chris Hurd June 22nd, 2003 08:06 AM

Posting images directly to the board isn't possible, but I have plenty of web space to host images separately. We can link to them from the Totem Poll or the Neighborhood.

We could do a hometown shot, but what about an editing suite shot instead? Or a "you in your home environment" shot. I'd upload a photo of me on my 1948 Ford 9N.

Mark Moore June 22nd, 2003 08:43 AM

Absolutely! Whether they're hometown shots or something that is specific to you (like you in the '48 Ford!), I think it would be interesting for everyone. I think there are several that can link their own photos to their own site, and I certainly don't want to create any more work for you (having to put up hundreds of pics!), but I just thought it would be interesting to see some of these photos, as I love photography and looking at pics!

Thanks Chris! Is there is a specific way to proceed on this or should we just post a thread in "Totem" with links?

Chris Hurd June 22nd, 2003 08:50 AM

Hi Mark,

On a '48 Ford 9N... you're not in it, but on it... well, you'll see. I guess we need to organize some folks to help host photos, because while I have plenty of web space, the truth is that I'll be gone most of next week to the Entertainment Technology World trade show in L.A. and therefore away from the computer for several days.

I'm open to suggestions,

Mark Moore June 22nd, 2003 08:55 AM

I'll be happy to host some pics on my crappy site - if people want to contribute some shots. No one visits anyway! :)

Now you have me confused and curious about the '48 Ford thing. I'm going to have to do a Google search now . . . just my ignorance showing!

Ok, I found a pic of the 48 - 8N, but I won't spoil the surprise if anyone else is curious!
