This was part of a Timewatch documentary on the BBC presented by Richard hammond from Top Gear about the Omaha beach landings on D-Day. They made a recreation almost as good as Saving Private Ryan just by using three guys dressed as soldiers, a Handycam, and some deft CGI.

Crikey. Surprised nobody has commented on this!

I think it's completely amazing. Got some great pointers just by watching it!

My wife, who works in government technology, actually used this in a technology meeting to demonstrate what can be done in today's digital environment.

I first noticed this elsewhere on the web a couple of weeks ago and meant to post about it, but was tied up with the MacWorld Expo at the time. When it first came around it was tagged as "Four Guys + One Camera + One Beach = Omaha Beach Invasion" (but yes it's just three graphic designers). Believe I first saw it here:

Would like to see this taken a step further... if you have access to one flyable vintage World War Two aircraft, you could fill the sky with planes...
