Thanks,
I wanted to put it out to the experts. The Ex1 was on my list as well as the new Canon XLHA and the JVC GY-HD200UB. I have read that the JVC has a sharper image than all listed here. I want to get the best bang for my buck so to say. |
I would say an ex1, or if you want interchangeable lenses wait for an ex3, if you want great and now and smart overall, the XHA1 and a firestore, HDD, tape and harddrive both, instant back up and instant access, and if you can wait I hear sony will start selling there CF recording unit separately in September, I am getting that to replace the firestore day one its available.

Some folks are saying that the Sony Z7 has as good if not better picture than the EX1...
The Z7 is like the little brother to the EX3, but has more options... And its in your price range. Check out this footage... http://www.vimeo.com/1127928?pg=tran...il&sec=1127928 for a good review.... http://provideocoalition.com/index.p...r_z7_hvr_s270/ |
Lets say I can scrimp and save a while longer and actually move up to something in the cost range of the EX-3. Are there any other considerations anyone would like to suggest in this price range other than Sony?

If you can save for an ex3 its the way to go in my opinion, if you will be taking advantage of interchangeable lenses, if not or if you plan on a DOF adapter save the money and get a ex1 and remember to figure in the cost of cards to start up, you need enough to shoot for as long as you will be shooting at one outing or time to download in the field, which in theory works in practice is always a pain. Its one more link in the chain that can go wrong, if your computer acts up and you cannot backup you have no room to keep shooting, so its better to have enough for a full days shots plus more available to start.
