Can the Intensity™ card capture encoded Cable video?
Are the Intensity™ cards able to capture encoded premium cable channel video?
Inquiring minds want to know! (I'd like to save my MotoGp racing in HD!) |
I doubt it... the HDMI ports have HDCP. But if you already have a card, give it a try and let us know how it goes.

The Intensity card will faithfully record whatever you can "see" through the Component ports of your cable box. I can record any channel that I pay for, premium or not. The raw data format that the Intensity software uses (I forget the name right now - wrong computer) chews up WAY too much in the way of disk space. If you record using QT Pro or Final Cut Studio you have many compressed options available to you.
I'm looking for a solution (hardware? Software?) that will convert to MPEG2 and maintain the surround sound audio - on the fly - in a format that will viewable from a conventional DVD. Then I can record the HD OR SD as I so choose. Hope this helps! Pete D. |
I believe that Grass Valley also makes a card that will ingest HD video from component ports. Last time I looked it was priced around $ 1000.

Thanks guys- much appreciated.
