Help capturing with USB

A friend has a Canon MV-830 Camera but doesnt have the driver disk for it.
There is also no firewire cable in the PC and he has XP installed.

How can we capture video from this camera into the computer?

I was thinking about getting a USB A to firewire 4 pin adapter but no idea if this would work, or if we actually need it.

How can I capture video using the USB?

Thanks in advance.

The computer has no firewire connection. Can I use a USB to firewire 4 pin?

No.

Can't be done.

Some cameras will transfer stills across USB but still need firewire for video.

I think a firewire card for a PC is around $20. I had a new PC built and asked for an extra f/w card. I didn't want the mouse they were including, so they put in the F/W card instead at no extra cost.

A quick Google only turns up a few USB to Firewire adapters and they're pretty expensive for what you get, >$100. A basic firewire card can be as low as $15. That seems to me to be the best way to go, just add a firewire port to the computer and be done with it.
