B/W "in camera"or in post?
 

If I wanted B/W look is it beter to do it "in camera" or in post?

And why?

I can't answer your 2 questions but..., I shoot a lot of B&W footage with my cams and do like the results. I also find B&W a lot easier to shoot and work with.

Which cameras do u use to shoot B/W?

I use JVC's 1 chip cams called the GR-DVL9500U, and Panasonic's 3 chip, NV-MX300A. They are small hand-helds, though I usually use a tripod. B&W is especially forgiving when shooting in dimmer light, and with ugly yellowish/brown settings (yellow paint, hardwood floors, Tungston light). I don't use the MX300s indoors though, because they are PAL cams, so the flickering caused be N.A.'s 60 cycle electrical system conflicts with the PAL cams (based on the 50 cycle electrical system).

Personally I would definitely go for post, why? Cause you have
more choices. If you don't like the B/W afterall you can go back.
Notso if you shot it in the camera. The computer can do it exactly
the same as your camera, so their is no quality difference.
Sometimes I prefer a look that is "almost" B/W, but has a tiny
bit of color in. Looks very nice to my eye..... Shoot some tests.

The only downside is to doing B/W in the computer is that you
need to render those sequences, for me that is no problem,
because I need to do that for every frame anyways (color
correction, letterboxing & re-framing.

Do some tests and weigh the consequences...
