Term for rough draft of movie?
Is there an official term for the rough draft of a movie that you put together before the real production?
|
Previz?
|
depends what you mean by "rough draft"...is this a down and dirty version that you shot on video? In the commercial world they call such an assembly a "ripomatic" or "videomatic".
As Keith says, "previz" is the current term that's used for features, generally digitally generated images. |
Thanks for the replies.
Yes I'm thinking of the down and dirty version using the actors minus props or special f/x, to work out blocking, camera moves/angles, and editing cuts. |
I've wondered before if doing a 'ripomatic' and then releasing this in some way or another is a good way of protecting the intellectual property of a movie. Any opinions on that?
