I'm a member of both Filmarts and BAVC in the SF area. I've taken AVID courses at BAVC, and found the instructors fully experienced and qualified. I am planning on taking a FCP course, just to get some exposure to it. (I cut on XpressPro).

Definately go check out both FILMARTS and BAVC. I found the folks at FILMARTS to be a little more "experimental" in their approach to filmmaking and BAVC a little more "nuts n bolts". Neither of those comments is meant as an insult, just an observation on the "attitude" that one gets there.
