Dylan,

if possible, can you find out what kind of machine they used?
I would really like to avoid it. Can you imagine doing a shoot
for a month straight? Hoo boy!

Dylan Couper September 20th, 2004 06:21 PM

You bet!
I just sent an email to the guy who got the smoke machine for it. I'll let you know when I hear back.

Never hurts to keep a can of B-Smoke kicking around

That would be cool Dylan.

Don, I have not used that stuff, but 'Fog in a Can' I like and it's
less than $9 at:

Production Advantage is a great place to get stuff and check pricing.

Will that stuff set off a smoke detector also?

Jacques Mersereau September 21st, 2004 07:06 AM

I spoke to our fire alarm folks about this. It depends on the kind of alarms.
Some of them work from particulate sensing. Others use
Infra Red beams that when broken set off the alarm. We have both in the
video studio. From what these guys said, if any smoke or haze is thick
enough to break the beam, yes.

The MDG atmosphere has such a fine particulate that it gets plenty hazey
without blocking the IR beam or setting of the sensor. I think the
fog in a can should be okay. I used FiaC at The Detroit Public Library and
had no issues.
