vid projectors - recommendations?
so, rushes on the bigger screen off mac/fcp -
anyone using a projector they really, really like? thx! |
Are you just wanting to know what everbody is using or are you
looking for one? Because in the latter case budget and what kind of things you are going to do with it is very important. I have an Infocus X2 DLP projector here (around $1500 or so) which produces some very nice images. I mainly use it for home cinema stuff. The two drawbacks are the colorwheel (known issue with some of the Infocus projectors where you can see color rainbow effects when things are moving, I sometimes notice this, depends on how drawn in I am) and it is a bit noisy in my opinion (it is very close the couch at this moment though). |
Panasonic have some incredible HD units out there..
the ae 500 is gorgeous as it is, but its now been superceeded by the 700.. this one has a lil joystick for teh lens placement and 2x optical.. go to panasonic.com.au and go to visual.. they really are incredible... |
Well, I'm reading reviews and like the Sanyo Z3 etc., but nothing beats firsthand experience. budget ~/< 2k, and its against screen goo with a 12' throw.
shameless canadian product plug: Screen Goo is great. |
OK, We'll bite. What is Screen Goo?

Well, I own a Sony VPL-HS10. I mainly use it for DVD and I am very happy with it.
The main drawback is the blacks are not really black. But it never really bothered me. Maybe it depends how picky you are. The fact is all the people who saw the picture were amazed. Using LCD panels, you can have dead pixels. But it never happened to me in 1 year and a half. Its panels are 16/9 and should support HD. It has a lot of connectors. It is not a DLP so no color rainbows. You can also put it almost anywhere, mine is on the side of the room and the picture is only slightly distorted. I put it under a small table and nobody can see it. It has now been replaced by the HS20. It should be even better ! I didn't find it at sony.com but here it is : http://www.sony.com.au/homecinema/ca...2033#MID1.jsp? 2500 US$ at B&H Hope it helps, Benjamin. |
