camera ccd hit by laser
not sure whether this is the right place for this question.
one of my camera was hit by laser and the ccd block now have two green dot. anyone know of a way to repair it without having to change the ccd block? appreciate all the help. thank you. ed |
Like a pen-pointer laser?
|
That happened to me once, years ago when I was shooting a rave with a Canon L1. Factory service is your only option.
|
not laser pen but effects laser. i was covering a concert with a sony d35.
chris, did they change the ccd block or was it repairable? ed |
Try black-balancing the camera about 6 times in succession. However, it sounds like the laser really zapped a couple of charge sites.
|
Ed, that L1 I referred to wound up with leaking capacitors shortly after the laser incident, so it was never repaired. We replaced it with a Sony VX3, another great Hi-8 camcorder.

it was one of those argon laser - 20w if i'm not mistaken. it happen so fast, less then a second. never have this sort of problem with older camera. the newer digital camera which are so low in lux, the ccd are really sensitive. will try out the black balance thing and see what happen. thanks.
