Not sure about this second handgrip you describe. The pole will work best if gripped with one hand in the place I have described. If you hold on to it with another hand further down, you have eliminated much of the stabilizing power of the system. At that point all you have done is increase the mass of the camera which will make it somewhat more stable, but it will be prone to much more interference from your body mechanics by having both hands adding their own influence. If it is so heavy that one hand cannot support it, the best thing I can suggest is that the second hand support the first hand by grabbing it just below the wrist.

Really? Well, I can simply remove the handle. I got the design of a website about home built stabilizers. So the sway from side to side should just naturally eliminate itself?

Yes. Ideally, the "sway" is actually the stablizing in effect. If the system is properly balanced and gripped in the manner described above, it shouldn't induce any negative "sway".
