Rechargeable 9V batteries?
Anybody using rechargeable NiMH 9V batteries in their wireless systems?
How is it working for you? I would like to get some since I am sick of buying brand new akalines every week. Any & all comments will be appreciated. Thanks |
I have tried an 8.4 V "9" V rechargeable; not good with Sennheiser untis. The battery votlage drops pretty fast - I could sometimes only get 1 hour of service. These also did not fail gracefully - one had no warning that the charge was dropping. I unerstand there are 9.6 V versions available now, but have not tried them.

I'm using Tysonic 9v NiMH batteries from Thomas Distributing and get about 3 hours of useful life on a Lectrosonic VHF receiver and 4 hours on the Lectrosonic transmitter. Not bad. Just gotta keep an eye on the time.
http://www.thomas-distributing.com/9..._batteries.htm There's a multiple charger available that will charge up to 10 batteries at a time, too. |
nimh blows akalines away... much better charge density.
aa-sized nimh's are really cheap now because of the digital photography guys, don't know about nimh in the 9-volt package size, tho. |

NiMH & Wireless (radio) microphones
I have done some extensive testing of NiMH batteries with Sennheiser, AKG & Sony wireless mic's. The results can be viewed on my website at http://www.soundandmusicco.com/nimh.htm
