Cinema projection specifications UK

I work for a UK production company and we are pitching for a project which will include at least one cinema appearance. I'm researching the specifications for projecting in UK cinemas... This will be pre-feature advertisement.

Could anyone help me with this?

It depends how it is being projected. Almost all cinema advertising in the UK is still on 35mm film and the filmout will cost thousands before you even start paying for all the prints. Small indie cinemas tend to be more flexible.

I have delivered for filmout at 1920x1080 as uncompressed targa image sequences in the past. I always go to a post house for the audio @ £495/hour plus export costs, as the final audio has to be dolby encoded and comply with many regs etc.

For a one off showing, filmout is VERY pricey. HDCAM or similar via a digital projector would be easier.

Thanks Mike,

It turns out the company putting up the money for production are dealing with the projection costs. Our HD production will be transferred to 35mm as you said.

Also factor in that it will need to be approved/rated by the BBFC and CAA with the rating included on the picture.

Allow 2 weeks or so for this (I think they sit every Friday).

If it's a single 35mm print using a Cinevator for the transfer would make sense.
