How to control Echo In Room
 

I have a shoot coming up and the room has a slight echo to it. I would rather deal with it on the front end as oposed to handling in post. Any one have any advise?

You might be able to reduce it by hanging some furniture transport blankets on walls or laying them on any hard floor out of the shot. Providing you won't be letting any outdoors ambient sound in that you don't want, open any windows that are not covered by curtains.

Echo comes from hard flat surfaces.

To fix the problem, cover them with soft material like bed comforters ... buy a bunch of cheap ones from Walmart or rent some furniture pads from Uhaul.

Especially if these flat surfaces are parallel to each other. So recording towards a corner can also be benefitial (in addition to what's been said).

I regularly use the packing blankets to control echo. I have a dozen of them. Hang one up from a large C-stand. Place one on both sides of who you are shooting. Kind of box them in. Then lay one on the floor in front. Presto! Instant echo dampener.
