John,
let me know how it went, all of us down here in the Big O are looking forward to the Nov. 29th opening. A friend of mine is working on Resfest promotion here in Osaka, I think he might be up in Tokyo for the opening, I'll email him and see if he's around, you guys could hook up for drinks.

How's the buzz on Resfest in Tokyo, here in Osaka most of the people don't know about it, my friend has been beating the japanese over the head to get them interested in ResFest but I'll be there with about 10 friends. Have it marked in big red letters on my calender.

Rik,

I'm not sure if this is THE opening party, but I'll be going to one on 10/21 Thu 8:00pm in Harajuku at a place called "The Pink Cow." (hard to find)

If your friend doesn't know where that is and wants to go, tell him to send me a message and we'll exchange phone numbers.

What's the buzz? No buzz. Tokyo is buzz-less. Nothing even in the paper yet that I've seen. The only way I found out was through the group mailing from Tamori-san at the Tokyo Film Group.

I'll let you know how it goes.

John,
how was resfest? I think I can make it to all of them except for the music video resmix electronica and the Chris Cunningham program.

which ones did you see and which one did you like the most.

sunday ought to be fun, 8 hours watching the videos, at least there are 20 min. breaks between programs. Have to remember to stop at Subway and pick up some sandwiches.

This might be interesting.

I check out that site all the time, I love reading the WaiWai articles, wild stuff that the English newspapers don't mention.

Here are some other sites:

www.japan-zine.com

http://www.airmassive.com

these are done by two friends of mine.

you can pick up Japan-Zine up in Tokyo, it's a free mag

I couldn't find squat about DV though. So what's up with the name?

John Locke November 28th, 2002 05:57 AM

Rik,

I'd planned on going to a couple of the showings last Saturday...but I wound up going out to Odaiba earlier that day and didn't make it back to the downtown area in time.

Dang.

John,
we are all looking forward to the Breathe doc. on the human beatbox scene. After a friend and I finish shooting some scenes from our short film we'll head over there. My homeboy Rob Moreno can't make it Fri. or sat, so I hope he can make it on sunday, I'll help him shoot a friend's band, so after the show on sat. I'll run over to Kyoto with my camera.

Adrian,
yeah, when I found that TokyoDV site I thought it would be DVinfo type of site, just a bunch of weird videos and japan fluff articles.
