Whats my problem

I am shooting SD with a 3 chip cam, 2/3'', my problem is my tight shots tend to have an orange tint, especially tight interviews. always white balance, cant seem o find a reason. Can anyone tell me what the GAMMA setting does, does this have anything to do with my off coloring?
thanks

Might check your particular user manual, but in general, gamma is the slope of the straight-line portion of the sensitivity curve, or, generally speaking, the contrast and brightness of your mid-tones. Does it help if you do a manual white balance, measured at the same zoom setting, before you shoot the closeups? Might be subject color throwing the white balance off....

Er, ed k, like to flesh this out a tad?

Like what camera, exactly. Lighting conditions. WB setting. Does the camera have auto WB change whilst shooting. NLE. Software. What display you're seeing this orange cast on and has it been colour corrected????

You know, all that insignificant stuff.

In the meantime, I'll try to find a spare set of batteries for my crystal ball, as it appears to be fresh out of AA's, always happens just when you need the blasted thing.

Re: Whats my problem

hey guys,
thanks for the input. This camera has full auto, which I have never used, but testing this out, if I go to full auto for my closeup interviews, the fleshtones look ok. trouble is on full auto I cant adjust the iris and it tends to seem a little dark. I shoot my broll on manual, looks great, but the closeups on interviews dont, even with new whitebalance.
this is an older cam, JVC GY DV700, 2/3" chips. I just picked this up a couple months ago, I love the JVC stuff, been using the 5000 cams, but I had to go to 16/9.
This has a fleshtone setting which baffles me, so I stay away from it.
