Prosumer Camera With Broadcast or Near-Broadcast Codec?

Hello,

I am helping a client build a small video studio in their office. Most of the content will be going straight to web, but sometimes the boss does commentary for cable news, and there as been some discussion about sending "tape" to these networks.

If possible, I think the camera they buy should:

1) Record to a broadcast level codec.
2) Have a high-enough quality image that I can transcode it to a broadcast codec without it looking horrible.

The least-expensive camera that records internally to a broadcast-accepted codec that I know of is the Canon XF100.

Please suggest any other cameras that fit the bill for criteria 1 or 2.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,

We shoot two TV series on national cable networks with Canon XF100 and XF105 camers.

They are excellent. You probably don't need to look further.
