Unstable PC

For a while now, one of our PC`s has been acting quite odd! Occasionally the mouse pointer will freeze & the only way to restore it`s working is to crash reboot! It will be fine for days on end so it appears very random. Now it`s decided to suddenly shut down & reboot of it`s own accord. When it starts up it asks if you want to start windows normally & then says that it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown! Any ideas guys? Thanks.

What regular maintenance do you do on your computers, any?

Re: Unstable PC

Take it somewhere that has an air hose, such as a petrol/gas station, and use the pressurised air to blow all the dust out from inside the computer case ... especially out of the fan and heat sink on top of the CPU.

This is always a good start.

Thanks Andrew! As a retired mobile mechanic I still have an air compressor so I`ll give that a try! Cheers :-)

Pull out your RAM, clean the terminals, then reinstall.
