Advanced Glidecam Balancing Tutorial
Ahoy, Trying to get a tutorial / YT series going and wanted to share this glidecam tut I did...this is assuming you already know the basics (2-3 second drop time, adjust the sled so it's stable etc). Let me know your thoughts, |
Re: Advanced Glidecam Balancing Tutorial
I really liked this - I did not really know how moving the weights closer/farther from the shaft affected things. Mine spins a little too freely and I didn't know what to do about it, so am looking forward to watching this again with my camera and glider in hand.
My only suggestion would be to perhaps consider including a wrap up that has a summary - sort of a quick troubleshooting run thru - if you're getting this kind of motion, do this sort of thing. |

Second David's "like". Same here, I didn't know about some of the little nuances.
One thought I've had is to have a way to add accessories under the plate instead of on top of the camera or above the plate as this would keep the center of gravity lower. A couple hot shoes should do the trick - on for the mic and another for whatever. Not sure what unintended consequences could develop with balancing. What ever it is would have to clear the handle. As for the Summary - good idea. Maybe even in a list (document) form one could copy? I see the thumbscrews are black now instead of brass. Thanks for putting the tutorial together. It was very helpful. |
