Marvell cinematic universe prop photos
3 Attachment(s)
From the exhibition that has been running in Brisbane, Australia, for the last few months. I find the whole props and set construction side of things to be incredibly interesting ... a logical extension of dressing a set for those that care about what they shoot.
These are the actual props etc used in making the movies. Here are a few photos shot with a Sony A7ii in 'gallery' lighting conditions. Anyone interested in seeing the rest? Andrew |

I would like to see more of your pictures. Just wish I'd known about the exhibit when I was there the end of July. Weather was really great. Took a walkabout around Kangaroo Point and hit a couple parks. Nice clean city. Used my Canon 24mm TS-E on the 6D for the casino shot and the 24-105 for the Storey Bridge photo.

Getting in to the first room. (With all these pics I've gone for high quality and closeups where possible so we can observe the detail of the props/costumes.)

I only really follow Agents of Shield and Guardians of the Galaxy as such (watching them). Beats me who the warrior dude is. Such is life.

Mr SpareArm, random dude, and an escape pod thing.
I know. I'm really good at this. |

Hey, the green guy is the Hulk. Definitely getting better at this.

Captain America and a plaque revealing what the costumes and props are made from.

The last of this particular section.
Notice the stage furniture in front of Iron Man's right foot? Probably hiding a power lead for plugging him in. You can thank the epic battle of workplace health and safety at the gallery versus having an arc reactor in a confined space. The public liability insurance ace card wins the day yet again. |

The shield is pretty impressive for the work that must have gone in to it. It's good to see this when you have a detail photo.

Captain America hanging out with his war bros. Because he just does.

These are great Andrew, thanks for sharing.

The Dr Strangelove collection. If you look closely you will see that it is possible to have a black belt in macramé .. or something.

The last before we get on to (drum roll) the Guardians of the Galaxy.

(Sorry for the delay - it's been busy. We now return for some sort of resemblance of normality.)
And here we are in the Guardians of the Galaxy section. Some of the weaponry was behind glass/perspex so it's been shot on an angle to minimise unwanted reflections. Not all weaponry was shot as I'm just not that in to it ... but the more interesting items were. |

Note the closeup of the footwear. Sometimes the bad dudes still need to go for comfort.

All your favourites, including Groot. The full size figure of Groot was actually used on set to get the lighting right so that the computer rendered version matched in seamlessly.

Some weird chest mounted weapon. I can only imagine that somewhere in a future episode one of the characters will have a heart attack right before something really important needs to happen. To save the day (and his/her life) the character would fire the weapon and the recoil would double as a chest compression mechanism.
You read it here first. |

Hmmm. A really important sword mounted somewhere resembling an altar or special place. Have probably seen this somewhere before ...

Focusing can be a bit of a challenge when the items are behind glass. Perfection is also a cruel task master.

Thor's hammer.
Apologies for those mere mortals who were included in some of these photos. It was a busy day. :-) |

For comparison, here is a shot of the throne room from the filming of the latest Thor film. When comparing to the pics in the next post (from the largest gallery display space there was), you realise just how big the set piece actually is.

Detail shots allowing you to see more detail than what you normally get to observe, and the listing of what the various items were made of.

Re: Marvell cinematic universe prop photos
This is pretty amazing - thanks for sharing your photos Andrew.
I sure hope this comes to the NW US, would love to see it. I want a life-size Groot for my lighting tests! It would be real popular around here... |
Re: Marvell cinematic universe prop photos
Thanks for all the pics! The sets and costumes are amazing. So much detail!
|
Re: Marvell cinematic universe prop photos
Still got a few more to come - just need a spare moment.
