please help: rookie looking for sources
 

hello. i'm not only new to the site, but new to the world of mini dv filmography. i bought my canon to tape snowboarding, roadtrips, and any other randumb activity my friends and i get ourselves into. my search for help is due to the lack of lense knowledge i have. i'm looking for a good source of fisheye lenses for my camera. i have a canon zr90 and i have no clue where to look. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance, very much!

One way to find what your looking for is to click in the search box and see what threads come up. for instance try "canon zr90" or "fisheye"
You can always go to the links from the sponsors or the local sellers. I don't know your camera so can't give you any specifics. I did a search on google and found a fisheye on sale for $30 for your camera. The better the camera the better quality you will need. The camera is only as good as the weakest part and bad parts add to each other. So you really need to know what is acceptable to you. I have a canon xl1s and the least expensive wide angle I would accept was around $250-$300 but on my no-biggie just for kicks camera I wouldn't pay more than $50-$60 because I am not filming for best quality but for basic capture with least headaches. I can take that camera anywhere with little worry of damage or theft. You decide what trade offs are best for you.
With a fisheye you have to decide how wide you want it. The wider the fisheye the more distorted the image. The cheaper is most likely less clear but certainly easier on the budget and you don't worry as much.
That said explore this site. There is so much great stuff. I spent about 2 hours a day for a month here reading before I had trouble finding something interesting that I hadn't read. I still find as I begin to explore new things with my cameras that I find that much more great stuff here on that as well.

It looks like your camera uses 30.5mm lenses. Double-check this on your camera by looking at the lens itself for 30.5mm written somewhere. I searched at www.bhphotovideo.com and the only fisheye lens I found was a $300 Century Optics model. There are less expensive Canon wide angle converters with .7x magnification for about $100.

Just go to bhphotovideo.com and search for 30.5mm and mostly listings for lenses and filters appear.
