how to get a Sony PVM-14N5U working on my PC

I have XP with a NVIDIA 4600Ti. I've got the s-video cable hooked up to the adapter on the card, then going to my sony monitor. I'm trying to watch my edits in Premiere and nothing is coming up on my Sony. How do I fix this so I can watch my edits on the Sony production monitor?

umm that is not usually how it is done.

A lot of people seem to be confused on how an external tv monitor is hooked up to an editing station. It has nothing to do with the video out of your vga card, infact ALL vga cards output a very low quality tv picture.

If you have no ADC/DAC dv converter such as the canopus advc-100, the Dazzle Hollywood or a dv cassette deck, then you will use your Dv camera itself.

You output via the firewire port into your dv camera, then use the analogue video output on your dv camera, such as s-video, to your TV. The camera's internal Digital to Analogue converter will convert the digital video and/or audio (if you want it) to a usuable and very accurate video signal for your monitor to display.

It is easy to setup.

Any more questions just ask,

Zac

p.s please tell us what kind of camera you have?

Seth, Zac is right. There have been a lot of other threads on this topic as well, so you might try doing a search--just use the link in my sig below.

That should be a nice monitor, BTW. (How do you like it?)

Also a adv converter like the canopus advc-100 will work.
