simulating/faking computer screen - how?
 

I want to shoot a scene with a computer responding to verbal commands.
I don't want it to look like a standard Windows or Mac desktop.

Is there a standard/easy way to set up a fake desktop and have it display what I want?
I thought about making a video and playing it on the laptop....but I thought there might me an easier way...
Or should I think about adding it during editing?

Anyone done this?

How about a power point presentation? It'll use the full screen and it's easy to move objects around.
You can animate it and step through by clicking an off camera mouse (could even be wireless).

If you are on a Mac platform, use Keynote. Its transitions look so much better than PowerPoint.

A CD based Linux such as Knoppix would serve very well for this. You place the CD in the drive and boot the computer to it. It leaves the existing data and files on the hard drive untouched or you can use them.
