Lipstick Cam vs. Small Mini D.V. Cam

I recently had a shoot where I used a lipstick cam mounted on an airplane's dashboard.

I have more shoots like this in the future but I want to get away from the handful of wires it takes to connect the camera to the battery pack and the camcorder.

I was thinking about getting one of the small Panasonic handhelds (GS-120/150). In addition to getting rid of the wires I'm sure the picture quality will be improved.

My only problem is that I can't find a suction mount to hold the camcorder. The ones that I've seen are designed for lipstick cams.

Does anybody have a lead on a reasonably priced suction mount that is suitable for small camcorders?

I don't know of any. It seems like it would be fairly easy to make on. Any sufficiently strong suction mount could have a tripod head secured to it or just a strip of velcro for the very inexpensive way. Its an idea.

You probably want something a little more secure than velcro or rubber suction cups in an airplane due to possibility of turbulence resulting in a flying camera. If the airplane has a structural member (steel tube) in the area of the windshield then you might be able to use a pipe mount type bracket such as is used to secure a GPS to the frame temporarily, or similar arm sold for lighting applications that has a 1/4 x 20 thread coupled with a small tripod head.
