Rotating Video 90 degrees

I've been helping a friend whose Canon G3 still camera takes three minute videos in M-JPEG format. Using Virtual Dub to join a few together earlier we came on a couple of clips he had shot like a still photographer would, in portrait. Of course these play back on their sides, as it were. It never before occurred to me to wonder if there is a way to rotate a video image so that a landscape presentation becomes a portrait presentation. I suppose you might be able to keyframe a spin transition to hold in the vertical position, but he isn't a NLE-user. Does anyone know of a solution?

I think your screwed unless you have something like Vegas...I know something like that would be very simple to do with Vegas...

You should be able to find somebody with a NLE to do it for you. In Avid it's a simple effect that you just drop on and say rotate clockwise, or whatever. I'm sure other systems have something similar.

This may also be easily done with QuickTime Pro.

Thanks all. Your replies made me dig a little into Premiere's effects. The Transform filter has a rotation setting that does just what he wants. Hate being stumped and now I'm not.

And Premiere does it easier than Vegas :)

That I doubt. Vegas can to it multiple ways as well. The two easiest are using Pan/Crop and Track Motion.
