why optical stabilizer should be off when on tripod?
I understand that some consumer cameras that use digital stabilizer crop off the edge as stabilizing buffer so the image quality drops. But the optical stabilizer uses a gyro stabilizer so the quality is not compromised so my question is: why we can't just keep it on all the time?

OIS will cause stuttering pans and zooms if left on when using a tripod. This was discussed just a few days ago: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=97005 Please search first before posting new threads. Thanks in advance, |
Hi
Does anyone know how to switch off the OIS on the Sony HDR-FX7? There is nothing in the manual. Stelios |
I believe that it is in the menu for the fx1. I would assume that it is similar on the fx7.

It is on page 60 of the English manual Stelios.
