iPod video
Does anyone know how to transfer raw footage to iPod??
Thank you!! |
You can store files, but that is just a file like you have on a hard drive.
To actually play the video, you need a format compatible with iPod. I use Quicktime Pro to accomplish that. |

Once you have done this, the next time you sync the iPod, it will also show up as a drive on your system and you can begin dragging and dropping onto it just as you would any other drive. You won't be able to view these video files on the iPod because it is only using the unit as a storage device, outside the limitations of the iPod interface. If you are intending to put the video on the iPod so they are viewble on the iPod, then what you need to do is convert your video files into an iPod compatible video format. (You should be able to find pre-sets in the Quicktime Pro export options. There are also some 3rd party applications that do this very easily.) Then you must open iTunes and drag your newly converted video files into the iTunes interface, and put them into a playlist of your choosing. After syncing, you should be able to navigate your video playlists and find your viewable video content there. Hope this helps. -Jon |
If you are planning on watching them on the iPod, Compressor, which comes with Final Cut Studio, has the ability to compress it in iPod format. Hope that helps.

On the PC side if you don't already have Quicktime Pro, there is a free encoder called "Super encoder". It encodes to many different video formats to include iPod. It also accepts many different formats. It works very well for a free program.
