Recording Modes
I recently purchased a Panasonic AG-HMC150. I love it.
I'm wondering about the recording modes. What do PH, HA, HG, and HE stand for? This is probably a simple question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks. Also, if anyone noticed, I apologize for cross-posting. I originally posted this in the AVCHD Format thread but meant to post it here. |
They primarily refer to the data rate.
HE = 6 megabits per second (Mb/s) HG = 13 Mb/s HA = 17 Mb/s All of the above are available only in 1080/60i PH = 21-24Mb/s, and is available in 720p, 1080p, or 1080i. PH is the best-quality recording mode, but it takes up the most space. For example, on a 32GB card, you can fit three hours of PH mode footage, or 12 hours of HE mode footage. |

I think they're Economy, Good, Advanced, and Professional High-Def.
Not 110% sure, but 95% sure. |

I thought it would be easier to remember what the individual bit rates were if I knew what the heck they stood for. I still don't think it's logical enough to be excluded from the manual but, oh well. Thanks a lot! |
