Card speed question ...again

I know we have been over this but I need some confirmation. I recently lost 2 of my 16 gig cards yes LOST. I have jobs tomorrow so I went to compusa to pick up a couple cards. I got 2 patriot class 6 cards pretty cheap too $25 each then I bought a no name 32 gig card that was advertised as class 6 it was $85. I tried it out and it seems to work fine BUT when I go in to the card settings menu the camera is only seeing it as a class 4 card. Do you think I will be o.k. with this tomorrow? I did record about 45 min of footage and I didnt get any errors or anything.

Hi Randy

I would definately stick to well known brand names!!! Ok, you pay a little more for them but it's cheaper than finding out you have no footage or corrupt files!!!

There are some really cheap but bad cards on the market so steer clear of them!!! I personally wouldn't take the risk of using a cheap card to save a few bucks!

Hey Randy

Just one comment of "junk" would definately put me off!!!

Bear in mind that when you used to use tape (if you did) it cost you a lot more over the years (I do around 20 realty shoots a month and 4 weddings a month so that would have been 30 tapes at $8 each which is heaps more costs for just one month of shoots!!!)

I would still go for brands that others use and will keep up with the camera data stream... cards are a cheap way of storing data so buy the best!! In my scenario it would cost me almost $3000 in tape media for a year so paying even $150 for a 32gb card and scrapping it after 6 months use makes economical sense!!! Seriously go for a recognised name that other guys use here!!

I"ve been using Patriot SDHC cards with my HMC-150 for about 15 months now without a single problem. ( I own 8 cards mostly 16GB Patriot IRIS Class 6 cards )
