Do not go back in time with Bluray or DVD. If you are a hobbiest you don't have to deliver a production on DVD to a client.
Bluray does not contain the 1080p50 in it's standard, so you can not even use Bluray.

If you film in 1080p50 you will be amazed by the quality, do not lower this by thinking in old terms ... think progressive ...
If you can not edit it, wait until the editing software is up to date to the 1080p50 mode. If your computer is not capable to edit your video, update it or wait for a cheep fast computer you can afford (yes I know hobbies need money ...).
You buy a HCD 900 for its picture quality, so archive your video until you can handle it.
In the mean time you can view the beautiful raw material ....

The difference between the two SD cards are: The SDHC (high-capacity) card has a capacity of 4 GB to 32 GB. SDXC (extended-capacity) card has a capacity starting above 32 GB with a maximum capacity of 2 TB.

I'm obviously confused as I thought BD was indeed 1050P, but that isn't the case.

I've done some recording in 1050P and it is glorious on my Panasonic Plasma; in-fact it was beyond what I expected to be honest! I'm so looking forward to my Florida vacation so I can capture lots of wonderful footage to watch back at leisure :0)

I have opted for a media player, as I'm unable to burn BD discs for now, although I understand I can burn at 720/50P to a regular DVD for still stunning results.

I was looking at either the WDTV HD Media Player with a 2TB external HD, or the LaCie 2TB LaCinema Classic HD High Definition Network Media Player [player & drive combined]. Both options would cost around the same.

I would pick up a 2TB internal drive for my Mac just for backing it all up at a later time.

So, as I can't edit it as I thought I could, (as yet), I'll keep to 1080/50P. Regarding the storage, I have 10 x 16GB SDHC cards and the 220GB built-in drive to tide me over :0)
