MX7000 Wishlist :)

1/3.0" 3CCD (1/3.6" would be nice too)
Improved Crystal Engine (and a higher S/N ratio)
2-million video pixels
8-million pixel still (using AXIS)
slow shutter speed for video
12-bit DSP
HDV record/playback
F1.2 Bright Lens produced by Leica
250,000-pixel 3.5 LCD display
200,000-pixel color viewfinder

What do you think?

For that amount of pixels, it'll probably need 1/2" CCDs, thus the need for a big heavy lens. That means the cam will have to be a lot larger. "Bright Lens" is TM'd by JVC, so you'll never see a Bright Lens from any other lens maker. I couldn't care less about the pixels for stills.

"That means the cam will have to be a lot larger."

Larger sounds great (but the PC300 is still a small cam despite the implementation of the 1/3" CCD.). I want a cam bigger than the GS100k. And about the bright lens, even Samsung has a few cams w/ F1.4 lenses. The 8 megapixel still feature is just a bonus using interpolation called AXIS.

Any more suggestions? What do you think about the HDV record/playback (similar to the HD1)?

How about showing 16:9 and Wide angle in LCD?
How about 24P shooting?

Frank Granovski August 13th, 2003 12:27 AM

The PC100 has one, 1/3" CCD. MX 3-chip cams have 3 CCDs. (It'll need more room.)

The PC300 is no small cam either.

Remember the Pana EX1? 1/3" CCDs. Yup, and a big lens.

Not to worry. Soon most consumer cams will have plastic lenses so they will be lighter. :)

Yeah, the PC300 may not be a pocket cam, but it's still small enough for a 1/3" CCD cam.

24P sounds great! That'll make video-to-film transfering much easier. More advanced cinegamma would be nice too.

Anyways, I really want the MX5000/GS100k successor to support HD (HDV to be exact) record/playback; I really want HD.

But not big enough for three 1/3" CCDs. ;)

IF YOU WANT HD, THEN IT MAY NOT COME WITH 3 CCD

But it will someday. :) We just can't be stuck w/ DV forever.
