GS100K OIS and Low Light Performance?
 

I have owned a high end Sony Hi8 camcorder for 10 years and it is now having Intermittent problems. I have tried the TRV22 and TRV70. TRV22 did a great job in low light but created many artifacts, especially along high contrast edges. The TRV70 still picture quality did not warant the high price and low light quality was less than the TRV22. I have read here that some are not happy with the GS100K OIS. I am used to being able to zoom to 10X with my old Sony with OIS and have very minimal shake. This is important for kids sporting events and school programs.

Can anyone be more specific with their discription of GS100K OIS performance? Does it work at all at 10X zoom?

Has anyone compared the GS100K low light performance to the Sony TRV series?

The "Sony TRV series" probably amounts to a hundred or so cams over the years. Do you want to compare all these with the GS100?

There's nothing wrong with the GS100's OIS or zoom. after 5X with any cam, I suggest using a tripod; and then you won't even need the OIS engaged.

I agree with Frank.

I didnt find anything wrong with GS100k's OIS, working excellent, trying to stabilize the handshakes, better than the Sony cams.
